School Site Council Minutes
November 18, 2009

Call to Order: 3:10 p.m. by Dave Halper
Minutes of the October 28, 2009 meeting were approved as written.
Parent Club:
Lynn reported that the Parent Club donated $2,000 towards classroom supplies. What would we do without them!
Site Plan (SPSA):
Lynn took us through pages 1 – 15 (School Data). As suggested, an Acronyms and Specialized Terms page will be included after the Table of Contents in final copy of document. We would like to improve the effectiveness of our website. It was suggested that we communicate with Liza Miller, our webmaster, about adding a counter to the site to measure the ‘hits’.
The Site Plan was approved with the addition of the Acronyms and Specialized Terms page.
Distinguished Schools:
Lynn announced that out of 6,000 California schools, we were one of 300 invited to apply for the California Distinguished Schools award. This invitation was based on academic growth and the lessening of our achievement gap. The staff is currently working on the application process.
Membership:
Lynn thanked Dave, Inga and Christy for their support and leadership on the Site Council. Nomination forms will go out soon for new members and the election process will be complete before our next meeting in January.
